Primary Responsibilities: Assist the locomotive maintenance technician with performing predictive and preventative maintenance on locomotives, assist with troubleshooting and repairing unplanned locomotive mechanical or electrical issues. Support all warehouse functions to include safe and efficient storage of all rail and locomotive parts.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Safely and efficiently operates forklift and other warehouse machinery.
  • Responsible for the safe loading of product onto different containers/trailers and product securement.
  • Responsible for the safe receiving of parts at the warehouse from third party shipping organization.
  • Responsible for all housekeeping duties within the warehouse and maintaining a safe work environment at all times.
  • Assist the technician with maintaining locomotives to FRA standards.
  • Assist the technician with implementing and sustaining locomotive inspection and preventative maintenance programs in the field at various customer locations.
  • Assist the technician with coordinating, scheduling, and performing routine maintenance on equipment and logging pertinent information.
  • Assist the technician with operations personnel as needed with locomotive issues.
  • Coordinates and assist with third party locomotive maintenance contractors as needed.
  • Utilize EMD locomotive systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and repairing locomotive mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Must be familiar with and comfortable working around high voltage and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose problems in a timely manner and determine if it can be fixed with internal resources or referred to a third party provider with special skills and/or equipment.
  • Assist with any other additional task that may pertain to the locomotive maintenance.
  • Periodic overtime and overnight travel is a requirement of the job. Requires the ability to work some weekends and nights as needed.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Recent Diesel or Electrical Technical or Mechanical Trade school graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Proven trouble shooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of EMD locomotives mechanical and electrical systems is preferred.
  • Display good organization and communications skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
Must have the ability to speak, write, read, hear and have good vision. Must be able to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold. Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction and pass any medical examination associated with the use of said PPE. The physical requirements include the following: Lift 50 pounds floor to waist, push and pull 50 pounds horizontally, carry 20 pounds while walking, walk 3-10 miles per day, stand 4-8 hours per day, climb stairs, climb ladders, extend arms through normal range of motion while standing and squatting, support oneself on a ladder with two feet and one arm extended for up to 5 minutes.

Minimum Job Requirements: 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.; stable work history with good references from past employers; pass a drug screen, physical, and background check; and speak fluent English.
