Job Title: Process Safety Engineer

Primary Responsibilities: Leadership role in the development and operation of a small petrochemical manufacturing facility. This person will be responsible for developing, implementing, and eventually managing all systems related to Process Safety for all aspects of the facility and pipeline assets. This position will also provide Operational Excellence in monitoring and improving processes at the facility.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Develop a Process Safety program and implement at the site.
  • Monitor compliance and provide continuous improvement for the Compliance programs.
  • Participate in PHAs during the design and construction of the facility.
  • Compile pertinent PSI during the design and construction of the facility.
  • Develop a DOT pipeline compliance program and implement at the site.
  • Participate in engineering reviews and monitor site construction and operation.
  • Mentor and support personnel throughout the organization to ensure safe and compliant operation.
  • Responsible for the implementation of Process Safety and Environmental compliance programs. Design and implement programs to achieve outstanding performance in these areas.
  • Oversee program to manage recommendations from incident investigations, MOCs, PHAs, JHAs, and audits.
  • Works closely with the field employees and customer to identify efficiencies and help implement them.
  • Oversee compliance programs from TCEQ and EPA as necessary.
  • Develop and manage small improvement projects to the facility.
  • Monitor plant operation and assist in optimizing and troubleshooting of process equipment and systems and provide solutions to problems.
  • Mentor and teach fellow employees how to execute the Compliance programs.
  • Develop and maintains facility Process Safety procedures that support regulatory requirements. Assist management to understand regulations and standards.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in petrochemical industry
  • Experience in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) operations, development experience is preferred
  • Experience in relevant technical aspects including PSM compliance, DOT pipeline maintenance, liquefied gas storage, facility maintenance and basic chemical manufacturing processes are preferred
  • Experience / familiarity with full array of permit requirements associated with petrochemical plant operation
  • Has experience with computer maintenance management systems
  • Possess strong project management skills
  • Possess strong communication (written and verbal) skills

Minimum Job Requirements: 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.; stable work history with good references from past employers; pass a drug screen, physical, and background check; and speak fluent English.
