Safety & Training Coordinator

Department/Job Function: Operations - 361

Primary Responsibilities: Assist the Site Leader in driving exceptional safety and environmental performance. Responsible for establishing processes and programs around safety that will support our goal that every personal injury is preventable. Continually look for new ideas and resources to help drive safety and environmental performance at the site. Personally communicate expectations around safety to all site employees and help motivate the group to reach our goals. Ensure that all site and regulatory and non-regulatory training is conducted in timely manner to meet the needs of PSC and customer.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and lead regular safety meetings (tailgate, monthly & quarterly).
  • Conducts the safety portion of the monthly safety meetings.
  • Works with PSC Baton Rouge office, to see that all employees take their annual physicals and that other regulatory requirements are satisfied.
  • Coordinate and drive training in all field level functions of responsibility within PSC’s commitment to the customer.
  • Maintain all safety and training documents in accordance with PSC’s policies and practices.
  • Track and report safety and training performance of the site utilizing KPI’s.
  • Works with PSC Baton Rouge office, to see that all employees take the new hire and annual Safety Council training.
  • Conducts regular field safety observations.
  • Reviews safety observation data from the other PSC leaders and develops action plan to address common or repeat issues.
  • Monitors operators for breaking any safety policies. Corrects the operator, and reports these to the Site Supervisor.
  • Works with corporate safety group to develop effective Lesson Learned packages and delivers these to the work group.
  • Lead formal incident investigations and produce written reports.
  • Reports any other safety issues that might come to attention, to the Site Supervisor.
  • Interface regularly with customer's Health, Safety & Environmental contacts.
  • Take responsibility for the site-specific safety recognition program in coordination with corporate office.
  • Participate in any special safety training that the customer or PSC management requests.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience in a safety, training or operations role.
  • Exceptional communication skills, such as the ability to effectively communicate information to team.
  • Be knowledgeable in the use of Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
  • Experience in formal incident investigation
  • Experience with OSHA regulations
  • Proficient skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Organizational skills
  • Team player attitude
  • Ability to learn customer and area-specific requirements and keep up with changes or new procedures.
  • Ability to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold
Minimum Job Requirements: 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.; stable work history with good references from past employers; pass a drug screen, physical, and background check; and speak fluent English.
