Job Summary: Petroleum Service Corporation is seeking a Rail Loader / Switchman to join our team at a safety-minded chemical plant in Freeport, Tx. This position will be responsible for the safe and efficient preparation of railcars to be loaded, switching and trackmobile operations to move railcars in, out and around the rail area. Pay: Starting at $17.25 – 18.25/ hour depending on experience, includes opportunities for yearly performance evaluation increases

Work Schedule: 12 hour rotating shift (Days/Nights/Weekends/Holidays)

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Communicates via radio and works as a team to safety conduct rail switching activities
  • Operates a trackmobile to bring railcars into the loading area or storage tracks
  • Hooks up vacuum hoses and completes an inspection to ensure each railcar is emptied of all excess product prior to the railcar being loaded
  • Sets up loading arm on the top of the railcar, enters data into the loading module screen and communicates to operations the railcar is ready to be loaded
  • Monitors loading by reviewing the module screens for status, storage silo levels and time to completion
  • Seals the top hatches and bottoms of the railcar, includes pulling samples to send to the lab
  • Weighs railcars ready for outbound shipment and inputs accurate data into the computer system
  • Operates the forklift in a safe manner to load supersacks and transfer product into totes
  • Follows all operational and safety procedures, completes all paperwork throughout daily activities
  • Completes all housekeeping duties to ensure a safe work space and conducts any other tasks assigned
Job Qualifications:
  • Experience working around rail or switching operations is a plus, but not required
  • Experience working in a chemical plant, industrial or manufacturing work environment is a plus, but not required
  • Must be able to follow OSHA safety standards and be safety conscious at all times
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License
  • 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Stable work history with good references from past employers
  • Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
  • Speak fluent English
  • PSC is a veteran-friendly company. Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
You must be able to:
  • Speak, write, read, hear, and have good vision
  • Work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction and pass any medical examination associated with the use of PPE
  • Lift 50 pounds floor to waist
  • Push and pull 50 pounds horizontally
  • Carry 20 pounds while walking
  • Walk 3-10 miles per day
  • Stand 4-8 hours per day
  • Climb stairs and ladders
  • Support oneself on a ladder with two feet and one arm extended for up to five minutes
  • Extend arms through normal range of motion while standing and squatting
