Job Title:  Loader (Hopper Car)
 
Business Unit:  SGS Petroleum Service Corporation
 
Department:  Operations
 
Type of Position:  Non-exempt
 
Primary Responsibilities:  Safely loads and unloads material into and out of Hopper Cars.
 
Reporting to:  SGS Site Supervisor
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Manages loading bins and product transitions
  • Works with Rail Group on hopper car spots and movement
  • Inspects/Prepares hopper car for product loading
  • Maintains accurate loading records and batch tracking
  • Ensures that hopper car is spotted on proper loading line
  • Wears all protective clothing that may be required to transfer the product in a manner that ensures maximum personal safety
  • Connects loading equipment to hopper car
  • Inspects & ensures Loading Unit equipment is working properly
  • Loads hopper car according to loading procedures, quality standards and safe practices
  • Checks weight of hopper car after loading to ensure that gross weight does not exceed regulations
  • Communicates with facility supervisor on any problems as they occur
  • Secures and labels loaded hopper car and completes required paperwork
  • Completes any other duties that may be assigned in order to complete the job
Skills/Qualifications:
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps poles and the like. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, hear and have a good vision. Ability to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold. High school diploma or equivalency.
