Primary Responsibilities:  Provides leadership, safety and operational support to the chemical plant facility through routine site visits, safety observations, injury case management, incident investigations and drives safety oriented action items to completion.  Conducts regular monthly safety trainings and supplemental field training on various safety topics. Implements safety practices that meet or exceed industry expectations and guidelines for no harm to people, to the environment, or to company property.
 
Reporting to:  Operations Manager, SGS PSC
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Works with operations management to ensure SGS meets customer and site HSE requirements
  • Provides HSE training, advice, and direction to all personnel
  • Stops any job that is considered unsafe
  • Intervenes when an unsafe act or condition is observed
  • Provides safety training to all new and current employees
  • Prepares and presents routine HSE Reports on activities and compliance to Operations Management and Customer Contacts
  • Stays up to date with any relevant changes to health and safety legislation
  • Interacts with Customers Contract Administration
  • Ensures effective Communication take place and advises on training related issues
  • Advises and/or update HSE Policy and Safe Working Methods as required
  • Leads Incident Investigations where appropriate
  • Monitors and assist use of “risk and hazardous substance assessments”
  • Maintains general communication with all staff regarding HSE matters
  • Ensures new employee orientations are conducted with relevant HSE content being included
  • Carries out audits to report on status of Policy compliance
  • Supports any other operational duties with the leadership team.
  • Establishes and maintains a comfortable and desired relationship with customer safety contacts and  medical service providers to remain updated on relevant information
     
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Leadership experience inside a chemical plant operation is preferred
  • Possess good communication (written /verbal) skills necessary to carry out the tasks
  • Possess good computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Work Experience: Relevant operational and leadership work experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable in OSHA Regulations
