Job Title:  Utility Operator
 
Business Unit:  SGS Petroleum Service Corporation (PSC)

Hourly or Salary:  Hourly
 
Primary Responsibilities:  Responsible for operating the water treating facility to supply uninterrupted utilities to the production plants and responsible for running boilers to create steam that supply the plant.
 
Reporting to:  PSC Site Supervisor   
 
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Operating large scale water pumping operations
  • Operating water filtering equipment
  • Operating water softening equipment
  • Operating large refrigeration units
  • Working with hazardous waste (ex: changing strainer pots)
  • Taking and maintaining environmental readings
  • Lab testing water samples to verify proper quality
  • Trouble shooting equipment or process problems
  • Starting up or shutting down boilers
  • Operating the boilers to stay within strict permit limits as well as maintain proper steam header pressure
  • Starting and stopping large feed water pumps and air compressors
  • Taking waste on and off as fuel to the boiler
  • Trouble shooting equipment or process problems
 
Skills/Qualifications:
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps poles and the like. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, hear and have a good vision. Ability to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold.
