Primary Responsibilities: The Logistics Coordinator supports logistics operations, including shipment scheduling, ensuring contract obligations are met, inventory management, raw material ordering and interface with third parties for activities such as equipment leasing and supplier audits.. Additionally, they may procure and receive material to support maintenance and operation of the site.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with customer service representatives, truck loaders, and carriers to efficiently create and manage the loading schedule for trucks and containers.
  • Maintain visibility into raw materials and replenish as needed.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers of the plant to set up processes for order forecasting and fulfilment in accordance with procurement contracts.
  • Regularly cross check inventory levels against future orders to ensure inventory is maintained at proper levels.
  • Oversee periodic cycle counts and monthly closing activities. Generate variance reports.
  • Communicate with production when the combination of current rates, inventory levels and future orders will create an inventory shortage or excess. Work with customer and production to develop plan to resolve any forecasted inventory issues right away.
  • Maintain visibility with railcars – both at terminal and those in transit so that proper number of cars are always available for loading. When this is not the case, work with railroads and customers to expedite shipments before there is a shortage of railcars at the loading facility.
  • Track and minimize any railroad demurrage costs
  • Research, recommend and implement a logistics tracking software for all site products
  • Participate in quality audits of truck loading procedures
  • File and maintain truck shipping documents
  • Develop and maintain procedures to define the Logistics operation
  • Maintain customer satisfaction by resolving issues through conducting incident investigations with follow-up as needed
  • Adapt shipping schedules with changing customer demand and/or plant issues
  • Communicate with customers to ensure timely delivery of product
  • First line contact for truck contractor issues (damages and service issues)
  • Complete and submit Transportation Incident Reports
  • Ensures DOT Certificate of Registrations for the site are updated once a year and posted in loading areas
  • Procure items required to support operation and maintenance of the site
  • Receive warehouse shipments
  • Ensure procured items meet the expected quality and required design specifications upon receipt
  • Able to work within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (eMaint) managing equipment and part availabilities for planned job execution
  • Identify opportunities for improvement. Develop and implement technology-based, cost effective solutions.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 5 years logistics experience
  • Organized with the ability to work independently and unsupervised
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with positive attitude
  • Computer literacy, including the ability to learn the computer database and understand how to receive, enter, and dispatch job orders using the database. (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Ability to learn customer and area-specific requirements and keep up with changes or new procedures
  • Shows initiative
  • People skills, including patience to deal with customers, employees, and co-workers


Must have the ability to speak, write, read, hear and have good vision. Must be able to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold. Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction and pass any medical examination associated with the use of said PPE. The physical requirements include the following: Lift 60 pounds floor to waist, push and pull 30 pounds horizontally, carry 20 pounds while walking, climb stairs, stand 8-12 hours per day, climb ladders, extend arms through normal range of motion while standing and squatting.

Minimum Job Requirements: 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.; stable work history with good references from past employers; pass a drug screen, physical, and background check; and speak fluent English.
