Job Title: Training Supervisor

Business Unit: SGS Petroleum Service Corporation

Department: Operations

Primary Responsibilities: Ensure that training requirements for all SGS PSC employees are clearly defined. A process is established for the delivery of all training. Maintain all training documentation in an organized manner. Deliver specific portions of the training, particularly regulatory. Monitor the overall effectiveness of the training delivered to field employees and work with SGS PSC site leadership to close gaps and make continual improvements to the training process. These responsibilities apply to both new hire and refresher training.

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Work with SGS PSC corporate training and compliance managers to establish a specific training plan for each position at the site.
  • Administers all regulatory training and testing to new hires and annual regulatory refresher training for all employees.
  • Arranges with appropriate customer persons/departments for any training that will be delivered by the customer or third party.
  • Incorporate any SGS PSC “fundamental training” into the site specific training requirements”. This includes all site specific DOT requirements.
  • Collaborate with the site supervisor to assign a field trainer to each new hire and review training expectations with trainer and trainee.
  • Have regular discussion and evaluation of new hire progress with trainer and trainee. Meet several times throughout training period and document progress.
  • Participate in final qualification of each new hire to ensure all training was delivered per training plan, that all documentation is complete and employee is qualified to perform assigned task.
  • Review and update operational procedures as required and coordinate periodic (at least every two years) procedure review efforts in our areas of responsibility.
  • Works closely with the site supervisors and other leaders to coordinate effective cross-training plan for all employees.
  • Receives Lessons Learned packages from SGS PSC home office and shares them with all site personnel and incorporates them into our training process if appropriate.
  • Maintains all training files and records for each employee.
  • Maintains various training manuals and related training materials.
  • Conducts regular field safety observations and gives feedback to the employee and the site supervisor.
  • Participates in incident investigations and incorporates any learning into our training processes and/or procedures.
  • Interface regularly with the customer’s training and operational leaders to incorporate new ideas or initiatives into our training processes.
  • Has direct participation in safety meetings and overall training initiatives to model appropriate behavior for our field employees.
  • Ensures that training is being conducted in alignment with PSC and the customer’s best practices, including auditing of records and informal participation in employee qualification process.
  • Supports field employees with performance problems and helps establish effective corrective actions. Works closely with the field employees and customer to identify efficiencies and help implement them.
  • Ensures positive recognition is occurring for good performance and personally participate in recognition events where possible.

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Leadership experience in training or safety role
  • Exceptional communication skills, such as the ability to effectively communicate information to team.
  • Team player attitude
  • Ability to learn customer and area-specific requirements and keep up with changes or new procedures.
  • Organizational skills
  • Experience with DOT regulations and training is a plus!
  • Proficient skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Be knowledgeable in the use of Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
